A Load of Balls

Yarn-conesWe are so pleased with our newest batch of yarn. It was expertly processed by 2 Rivers Mill in Wimborne; we collected it a couple of weeks ago. The yarn is double knit, fully worsted and comes mostly from the 2014 clip. It is a soft mushroom colour comprised of five white 22 micron fleeces and blended with the last of the lovely soft fleece from brown Archie who moved to France in 2013.

Winding-YarnThe yarn is on cones and below is a photo of the Heath Robinson arrangement we constructed to wind it into balls. Each cone is the equivalent of five 100g balls; that means 70 balls altogether from the 14 cones, a lot of winding. There must be a better way!
